About Lynn

A blending of the arts with life.

Nowadays, I live in the Midwest with my husband and family, whom are mostly grown now, 2 out of 4 are living on their own.  I currently have 4 artistic passions happening in my life. 1.)   Art - painting, drawing, sketching & taking art classes.  Reproducing my art with printing equipment  2.)  Lettering & Design - Printing & applying signage on boats & trucks, buildings.  Creating logos.  3.)  Illustrating a Children's Book titled "Sunny"  4.) Dance - which has come back in my life after a 10 year break and combines most all of the above mentioned passions.  It's a lot, I admit, yet this is what's happening, a mish mosh of many disciplines.

I spend a lot of time by myself, as the kids are grown and my youngest children are off at college.  For now it's the cats and I, until my hubby gets home.   I have had many lovely successful experiences, published material and awards as an artist and also many LONG droughts of doubt and uncertainty that threaten to derail all efforts, thankfully the latter always passes.

As an artist and a person, I am coming into my own. I work very hard to connect within and listen a lot longer and believe in what I'm receiving.  My voice has mostly lost the past programming, the resentments, the harsh inner critic, the dependancies of validation.  It's a lot more quiet in my head on most days, which actually is awesome!  I know exactly what it feels like when my brain is overstimulated and I don't listen within, I feel separate from myself and it is painful!  It's taken many years to learn to handle my feelings in a loving manner, both to myself and others.  This has actually helped my art in many great ways!  Which brings me to my passions…..

1.) Art  -  I do admit, I have a lot of irons in the fire on this one.  And every year I am on the planet, the list grows.  I love taking art classes in Chicago & Milwaukee.  I love the city vibe I get when I travel to these places.  My whole goal is to be able to paint the human figure and know where all the shadowing belongs without looking at references.  What you see, and what you think you see are often two very different things.  I have been working on this one for quite some time.  Along the way, I have a few paint commissions which I'm getting ready to start - because it's winter and it's the perfect time to sit inside and paint.

2.) Lettering & Design - for 24 years I ran Biron Signs, and the majority of my work has been boat lettering.  I closed it down in 2009, because family & work collided to often, so I stepped down.  As the kids got older, I went back into signage.  I really feel most at home in harbors, and boat yards.  To me they have a lot of magic in them and it fills my heart up.  I love designing names for peoples boats, it is so much fun and so gratifying of an experience when the family is smiling and happy with what their boat looks like.  Meeting the families and their happy reactions are my favorite part!

3.) Illustrating - Currently I am in the middle of illustrating a book I wrote about a mischievous sun.  I have been working on it for over a year and have a ways to go.  But super excited about it, and super excited to put it out into the world when the time comes.

4.) Dance - Dance having come back into my life is such a blessing.  During Covid I would dance in my basement, helping me release grief and frustrations.  My mom and stepfather had passed away, and the dancing really helped me process all of the complicated feelings I felt regarding their passing.  I thought to myself, it would be great to dance on a stage again.  Then I reached out to my friend Lainie from Sparrow Dance Co, and told her of my interest.  She had a project going and she asked me to create some art for it.  Thus began, filming the art in process, adding music and putting it all together with her dance performance.  It was great fun!  The paintings were auctioned off, and proceeds went to an animal in need charity.  We have done a few projects since the initial one and I am having great fun with it!  I used to dance and teach a couple dance classes over 10 years ago.  Life was so busy with the children, that I quit doing it.  My kids were busy kids, and in many different sports, and much of my time was supporting their sports and that was a time of great fun as well!  And some of my children danced, so I was able to be around the dance world through their experiences and accomplishments.  Occasionally I would be asked by one of their coaches to lead a stretch, and I loved that, not sure my kids did though  "Mom, you're embarrassing me!"

If you made it to the end of this, thank you for taking the time to read up about my life :)
